My Dogs

  • Roo

Roo was my first foster fail. She came from Cody’s friends and after 2 days of fostering her, I adopted her. It was too easy to fall in love.

She was born deaf and has separation anxiety. She used to be terrified of people and hide under the table from them, but now curiously approaches guests. When I got her, she was extremely food aggressive to other dogs and started multiple fights with my family dog. I worked with her instead of returning her and I am so glad I did.

  • Jesse

Jesse had been with the rescue for over a year and they didn’t know what to do with her. She came from a farm with 15 other dogs and hadn’t been socialized with people. When anyone would walk by her room, she would display dramatic kennel aggression.

I brought her home to foster and fell in love with her. As she made progress and finally started to let me give her affection and even request it, I got attached. After working with her for a few months, she was a different dog. She still is making progress now and I love seeing every new milestone.

  • Annie

Annie was in her foster home after her elderly owner ended up in the hospital. She was living with seven other dogs she didn’t get along with and had never been on a leash in her life. Her foster learned she had not been spayed and that she was actually pregnant which is when I brought her home to foster instead.

She was a pregnant 7 year old dog and it was risky. After she had her puppies in the ER, I couldn’t let her go and just had to adopt her. I decided she didn’t need anymore change, and I was obsessed with her.

  • Mable

Mable was originally found by the Richardson animal shelter as a stray puppy at 4 months old. She was adopted by a pair of adult roommates who lived in a small 2 bedroom apartment, were not physically active, and believed she would grow up to be a “medium sized dog”.

She was listed at the shelter as a Belgian Malinois, notoriously high energy and high drive dogs that are unfortunately growing in popularity as pet dogs due to increased pop-culture representation.

When Mable was 8 months old and 60lbs, her owners’ neighbor reached out asking for help finding her a more appropriate home as the owner no longer wanted her.

I had just told myself that I would never get a Belgian Malinois and my next dog would be a male GSD, but here we are! She is a high energy dog requiring a lot of hard work, but fits in so well with the rest of the pack.
